Migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify without losing sales

We move your store from WooCommerce to Shopify without it ever stopping selling. We migrate the data, rebuild what your plugins did with Shopify features or custom code, and redirect every URL to keep your rankings.

This is for you if…

  • You spend more time updating WordPress and plugins than selling
  • Your WooCommerce store is slow and your hosting has hit its limits
  • You worry about the security of your store and payments
  • You want to migrate without losing what already ranks on Google

What we migrate from WooCommerce

Everything your store needs to sell on Shopify from day one.

  • Simple and variable products, with images and stock
  • Customers and their order history
  • Pages, blog posts and SEO metadata
  • 301 redirects for every old URL

How WooCommerce maps to Shopify

Categories become collections, which can be manual or automated by conditions. Attributes that generate variations become variant options, and the remaining attributes and custom fields become metafields that the theme shows on the product page and that can be used as filters.

What can't be migrated as is

Customer passwords can't be imported. With Shopify's new customer accounts that isn't a problem: customers sign in with their email and a one-time code they receive instantly. URLs don't keep their structure either, because Shopify uses its own, which is why each one gets its 301.

Plugins: what replaces them

We review every WordPress and WooCommerce plugin. Many are covered by Shopify out of the box (payments, taxes, filters with Search & Discovery, automations with Flow), others by a reliable app and some are better as custom code in the theme.

How we migrate your WooCommerce store to Shopify

  1. WooCommerce inventory

Products, variations, attributes, customers, orders, blog, plugins and every URL that gets visits or links.

  2. Data and URL map

We decide which part of Shopify each piece of data goes to and which new address each old URL points to.

  3. Migration to a development store

We import the data and build the theme while WooCommerce keeps selling.

  4. V1 review

We check products, prices, customers, orders and redirects with you.

  5. Domain switch and follow-up

We connect the domain to Shopify, submit the sitemap and monitor indexing in Search Console.

Migrating from WooCommerce to Shopify with an agency

What changes when you move from WordPress to Shopify and what we do so the switch doesn't cost you sales or traffic.

Why WooCommerce stores move to Shopify

WooCommerce runs on WordPress, which means a server, backups and updates to the core, theme and plugins that all have to stay compatible with each other. As the store grows, that maintenance eats up hours and any update can break the checkout.

On Shopify, hosting, security and checkout are handled by the platform. Your team focuses on the catalog, campaigns and customers.

How your WooCommerce catalog moves to Shopify

In WooCommerce a variable product generates variations from attributes. In Shopify those attributes become variant options, and each variation becomes a variant with its own price, SKU and stock. Attributes that don't generate variations, such as materials or dimensions, are stored in metafields.

Categories and subcategories become collections. Shopify doesn't have nested collections, so the hierarchy is recreated in the navigation menu and, where it helps, with automated collections based on tags or product type.

  • Categories to manual or automated collections
  • Variation attributes to variant options
  • Informational attributes and ACF fields to metafields
  • Tags and brands to tags, vendor or filters

Customers, orders and passwords

We migrate customers with their addresses and order history, so on Shopify you keep each customer's value and can segment them. We respect the marketing consent they have in WooCommerce.

Passwords don't come across: Shopify doesn't allow importing them. With Shopify's new customer accounts, sign-in is passwordless, using email and a one-time code, so customers get in just as before without having to activate anything.

How we avoid losing SEO

Before touching anything we export every WooCommerce URL: products, categories, pages, posts and any that receive external links. Each one gets a 301 redirect to its new address on Shopify, and we keep the titles, descriptions and copy that already rank.

After the switch we submit the sitemap to Google Search Console and check crawl and indexing errors over the following weeks. If you want the technical detail, it is in our guide to migrating from WooCommerce to Shopify.

Frequently asked questions

What clients ask us most about wooCommerce to Shopify migration.

Will my customers have to create a new account?

No. We migrate their accounts with their order history. Since Shopify doesn't allow importing passwords, with new customer accounts they sign in with their email and a one-time code, no password needed.

Will I lose rankings when I leave WooCommerce?

The risk lies in URLs left without redirects and content that disappears. We map every URL, redirect each one with a 301 and keep your titles and descriptions.

Is the WordPress blog migrated?

Yes. Posts move to the Shopify blog with their images and metadata, and their old URLs are redirected to the new ones.

How long will the store be unable to sell?

Practically no time at all. We set up Shopify in parallel and switch the domain at the time of lowest traffic.

What happens to my WooCommerce plugins?

We review each one: many are covered by Shopify out of the box, others by a reliable app and some we code into the theme so you don't add monthly fees.

What about product reviews?

They can be moved to the review app you choose on Shopify, as long as your current plugin lets you export them.

What happens to my domain and email?

The domain is connected to Shopify and stays yours. If your email is with another provider, we check the DNS records so it isn't interrupted.

Can I migrate and redesign at the same time?

Yes, and it is usually the most efficient option: the structure, data and SEO work is done only once.
