Integrate Shopify with your ERP, CRM and logistics

As a store grows, copying orders into the ERP or updating stock by hand stops being viable. We connect Shopify to the systems your company already uses, starting with the simplest thing that works: a reliable connector if one exists and custom development with the Shopify API if not.

This is for you if…

  • Someone on your team copies Shopify orders into the ERP by hand
  • Your online stock doesn't match the warehouse
  • You oversell because the sync arrives too late
  • Your logistics provider or invoicing software doesn't receive orders automatically

Which systems we connect to Shopify

The systems that usually surround a store that is already selling. Before proposing anything, we check whether yours has a Shopify connector.

  • ERP and business management software
  • WMS and warehouses or third-party logistics
  • Carriers and shipping labels
  • CRM and marketing tools
  • Invoicing software

What data moves between systems

Typically, stock and prices flow from the ERP to Shopify, and orders and customers flow from Shopify to the ERP, warehouse or invoicing system. The first step is deciding which system owns each piece of data, because if two systems can change the same stock, sooner or later the numbers won't match.

Four ways to integrate

An app from the Shopify App Store when there is a maintained connector with good reviews. Shopify Flow for automations inside Shopify. A tool like Make to link services without full development. And custom development with the Admin API and webhooks when the logic is specific to you or no connector exists.

Errors and sync

An integration is judged by what happens when something fails: a SKU that doesn't exist, an order the ERP rejects or a brief outage. We define what gets retried, what triggers an alert and who receives it, so no error stays hidden.

How we approach a Shopify integration

  1. Systems map

Which software you use, what data each one holds and what is copied by hand today.

  2. Who owns each piece of data

Stock, prices, orders and customers: where they come from and where they go.

  3. Connector or custom build

We check whether a connector exists for your system and, if not, what its API allows. Fixed-price proposal in writing.

  4. Testing on a development store

We test the integration with test orders and error cases before touching the store that sells.

  5. Go-live and follow-up

We switch on the sync, monitor the first weeks and train your team to review errors.

A guide to connecting Shopify with your ERP and other systems

What Shopify does out of the box, what needs an app or custom development and what to decide before you start.

What Shopify handles without any integration

Before connecting systems, it helps to know what Shopify already does. It manages inventory by location, orders, customers, taxes, discounts and, with Shopify Flow, many internal automations: tagging orders, alerting the team or flagging customers. Flow is free on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus.

What Shopify doesn't do is talk to your ERP, warehouse or invoicing software on its own. That takes a connector or custom development.

App Store apps, Make or custom development

Many ERPs, warehouses and carriers have an official or third-party app on the Shopify App Store. Before recommending one, we check who maintains it, what data it syncs, how it handles errors and what other stores say about it.

When there is no connector, or the existing one falls short, we use the Shopify Admin API and webhooks. Webhooks report what happens in the store as it happens, such as a new order or a refund, and the API lets you read and write products, stock, orders and customers. Tools like Make work for simple integrations between services.

  • An App Store app if a reliable connector exists
  • Shopify Flow for logic inside Shopify
  • Make for simple links between services
  • Admin API and webhooks for what is specific to you

Stock, orders, customers and prices

Stock usually comes from the ERP or warehouse and is written to Shopify by location. Orders travel from Shopify to the ERP or warehouse with their line items, taxes, discounts and shipping details, and come back with the tracking number once they ship.

Customers and prices depend on the business. In wholesale, for example, customer-specific prices can live in B2B on Shopify catalogs and be fed from the ERP.

When something fails

No integration is free of errors: a SKU that differs between systems, a customer without a tax ID (NIF) or an ERP outage in the middle of a campaign. What matters is that the error is detected, retried when that makes sense and reaches someone who can fix it.

Before switching anything on, we reconcile SKUs and references across systems. It is the most common reason an integration works in testing and fails with real data.

Frequently asked questions

What clients ask us most about Shopify integrations.

Have you integrated my ERP before?

It depends on the ERP. What we always do is first check whether a Shopify connector exists and what state it is in, and if not, what your ERP's API allows. With that we tell you the approach before quoting.

Is an app or custom development better?

If a reliable app covers what you need, it is usually the fastest and cheapest option to maintain. Custom development pays off when your logic is unusual or the app forces you to change how you work.

Is stock sync instant?

It depends on how your ERP exposes its data. Shopify sends a notification the moment each order comes in using webhooks; the other direction can be instant or run at intervals, and we agree on it in writing.

Do I need Shopify Plus to integrate an ERP?

No. The Admin API, webhooks, apps and Shopify Flow are available without Plus. Plus brings other things that we assess separately.

What happens to orders if the ERP is down?

Orders keep being recorded in Shopify. The integration must store them and send them once the ERP is back; we build that into the design.

Can you change an integration I already have that is causing problems?

Yes, after reviewing it. We see what is failing, whether it can be fixed or whether it is better to replace it with another option.

Who maintains the integration afterwards?

If it is an app, its provider. If it is custom development by us, the code is yours and you can maintain it with us or with another team.

Do you also integrate stores you didn't build?

Yes. We review the store and the systems to be connected and send you a fixed-price proposal.
